STORY: Could you ever love the unrepentant rake who won you in a wager?
He didn’t gamble on losing his heart when he won her at the gaming tables.
Pierce, the Earl of Wainthorpe has finally thwarted his worst enemy. Except he can’t revel in his victory after winning his foe’s ward in a winner-takes-all wager. If Pierce refuses to assume Bianca Salisbury’s guardianship, the fiery-haired beauty with a matching temper may very well find herself sold to the highest bidder.
The shameful secret she guards makes it impossible to love a rogue.
Desperate to escape her blackguard cousin, Bianca Salisbury ventures to London to find a husband or employment. Instead, she’s bartered to a notorious rakehell. She either risks being compromised and accepts The Earl of Wainthorpe’s protection, or flees him and her guardian. But without money and a place to go, she fears she’ll face the same tragic fate as her mother.
REVIEW: This novella is a part of Wicked Earls’ Club Series which contains 12 novellas from 12 different authors. Ms. Cameron’s story is #3 and I’ve only read her contribution to this series.
In the series we’re promised to “meet twelve of the most wickedly sinful earls in all of Regency England. Together they make up the Wicked Earls’ Club. A secret group, marked with a single golden W; it is a place where these deliciously devious earls can indulge in their darkest desires. Though fate may have something else planned for them entirely.”
I have to say that in reading this story, I found myself wishing that this was a full length novel because I had so much fun reading it. The story is well written and the plot intriguing, while the characterization is the driving force of this story. The author knows her characters well and she revels in introducing them to us, making this story thoroughly fun and interesting from page one.
If you enjoy stories that are filled with adventure, humor and sweet romance, than look no further. This is one of those stories that will make you sigh with delight.
