BOOK BLURB: With writing that is “nothing less than brilliant” (Booklist) comes the third in the witty, sexy Winner Takes All series from Kate Noble!
Dr. Rhys Gray and Miss Margaret Babcock are friends—strictly friends. But over the course of the year, as they exchange dozens of letters, they share personal details that put them on the path to something more.
When Dr. Gray helps Margaret realize her dearest dream and she comes to his defense in the uproar that follows, it seems that their connection cannot be denied.
But will their relationship stand the scruples of society and jealous intendeds, or are they destined to be only friends, and nothing more?
REVIEW: This is the third book in Kate Noble’s Winner Takes All series and the one I enjoyed the most. That’s because of the hero as much as the heroine.
I liked the fact that our heroine had a unique talent as a botanist, but I loved the relationship between her and our hero that starts off as a friendship forged through the correspondence about both their passions, botany. It eventually turns into romance, but I loved the journey they took toward each other.
This story is all character driven, fast paced and vastly entertaining and I highly recommend it!

“We need sheets. Clean ones.” Rhys said. “Stay there.”
He stepped away, and Margaret remained where she was, holding the cloth to Daniel’s side. She was alone for the minute, maybe two. Watching the shallow rise and fall of Daniel’s breath.
Just keep going, she prayed. Keep breathing.
When Rhys returned, it was with a pile of cloth and a leather case she recognized as his medical bag. He came over and looked at his brother and her hand on the cloth, and gave a short nod. Then he spread a clean white cloth over the table and sharply tied down the corners so it would not shift.
“Ashby’s cook is in the kitchen,” he said. “A footman has been sent after Ned, so he’ll be here shortly, I’m sure. I wanted another footman here to assist me, but I don’t know if the man will have steady enough hands. Do you think you can do it?”
Steady hands? What did he want her to do? Hold instruments? Hold down Daniel while he cut through the skin? Margaret managed to not audibly gulp. But she was strong- a lifetime in the garden had given her durability.
