‘The Sweet Surrender of Janet Buchanan’ by Paula Quinn

tssojb pqSTORY: (The MacGregors: Highland Heirs #1.5)

She Would Not Be Conquered . . .

Janet Buchanan is no man’s property. She refuses to marry her family’s sworn enemy-consequences be damned. She’d rather take a dagger to the brute herself. Yet when a tantalizing-and infuriating-man from her past comes to her rescue, Janet finds herself undeniably tempted by his hot, hungry kiss.

He Could Not Be Tamed . . .

Notorious for his prowess as a lover and a fighter, Darach Grant has only one goal in mind: to defend his kin’s land from the impending siege of a hostile clan. The last thing he needs is the delicious distraction of Janet Buchanan-the only woman who can stir his ire as deeply as she warms his blood. But Janet’s intended will stop at nothing to claim her, forcing Darach to choose between surrendering his honor . . . or his heart.

REVIEW: In ‘The Seduction of Miss Amelia Bell’ (book one of this series and my review of it here), is where these two first meet, but you don’t need to read that book to understand their story in this novella.

Be warned though that this is not a full novel but a short novella. That said, I loved it as it was and think it accomplished all the criteria for telling a full and rich love story which was sweet and held my interest from start to finish.

Paula Quinn is a master at storytelling and I love the way she takes me into the Scotland of long ago and introduces me to these intriguing and voluptuous characters that are fully fleshed out and real.

Darach MacGregor and Janet Buchanan couldn’t be more unsuited to one another, yet both find themselves having a hard time getting each other out of their minds even though they haven’t laid eyes on each other in a while.

I loved both characters very much separately, but boy when they were together, there were so many sparks! If there ever was an Alpha Female created, Janet would be one of those and she was a perfect mate for this Alpha Male hero with a heart of a poet. Both were so much alike, strong-willed and hard-headed;  devoted to their families and passionate about things that mattered to them; stubborn to the core when it came to who will give into whom, but once the passion within them about each other ignited, there was little they could do but give into it.

As with all Paula Quinn’s novels, this one too is well told with fully developed characters and a perfect introduction into her next book in the series ‘The Wicked Ways of Alexander Kidd’ and Caitrina’s story.

If you are into men in kilts and fearless women, this will be a perfect little romance for you.

    1. Oh my dear!
      It’s my pleasure!
I love the characters you keep coming up with!
AK’s rev is coming up tomorrow in a separate post from our spotlight on both books.
I am so sorry that I won’t be able to offer my readers a giveaway on the blog [wordpress has prohibited that activity] but maybe I can offer it on our FB page? Just say the word 😉
BTW, Chicago had its first snow last night and it is COLD this morning so I’m curled up with my cats and Julia Quinn’s ARC of another Smythe-Smith romance [which is hilarious!]
