About Us

My Dear Bookworms!

When I decided to venture into this Blog-world, I never, ever thought it would be so much fun. For a time, b2b was a one woman pony show, dedicated to all you bookworms out there, but now I’ve ‘drafted’ two ladies who share my love of romance to give me a hand here, and I just know you’ll love them and their reviews as much as I do, so without further ado, let us introduce ourselves….

My name is Melanie Friedman. I’m in my fifties, married to my own ‘RA’, working for a great company, and have grown kids, hoping they’d make me a Grandma soon. My hobbies are gardening, reading and painting. As an avid reader I love to talk about books I’ve read, especially romance novels. I will warn you though: besides book reviews, you’ll hear a lot of my nonsensical rants and raves! To reach me you can leave a comment here, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible, or you can leave me a message on our b2b Facebook Page. You can also catch me on Tweeter under @b2bMelanie.

Connie Fischer and the window cleanerHello bookworms!

My name is Connie Fischer [oh, that good looking guy next to me...not my DH, not my son...he's just 'the notorious window cleaner'] and I’m a retired office manager from NASA.

I’ve loved books from the time I could read and spent my childhood summers in my front yard tree reading Nancy Drew books, classics and biographies. Historical and contemporary romance novels, chick lit and anything British positively make me drool.

My family and I lived in Paris, France for six years while my husband was “on loan” from NASA to a NATO Research and Development organization.  During that time, I worked at the American Embassy.  We loved to travel around Europe every chance we got.

Our life now is spent in southwest Florida where the weather is always delightful and just recently we adopted two kitties that have us wrapped tightly around their little paws.

Reading is my passion and it’s so wonderful to have the time to devote to it as much as I like.  I have challenged myself on Goodreads this year to read and review 100 books.  My other loves are blogging and chatting with my author friends on Facebook.  Yes, life is good – especially with a book in my hands!

Leah WellerHey you bookworms!

My name is Leah Weller and I live in the foothills of North Carolina with the Grandfather District of the Pisgah National Forest practically in my backyard. You can find me there hiking, swimming and laying in the sun on a river bank, or simply driving on one of many dirt forest service roads. Any chance I get, I’m there because that’s where I find my inner peace.

I’m the mother of two grown children who brought a daughter-in-law and son-in-law into my life last year. My Mr. Right came along 10 years ago who brings laughter to my life each and every day and we have three “babies”, two cats and a dog, all who were rescued. I could say they rescued us. Huge animal lover here!

My mother read to me often as a child and as a teenager I was never one to read outside of what was required of me in school and didn’t find my love for it until ’93 when a friend from work gave me The Wolf and the Dove by Kathleen  E. Woodiwiss. That book changed my life forever! I found not only a love for reading but a love for everything medieval. To the grimaces of my DH every time he passes through our Dining Room, I’m the loving and proud owner of two broadswords and three daggers that are displayed there [LOL]!

My brain and soul feel like a huge sponge that can’t soak up enough history. It was almost as if I “found” that part of me that felt empty, just out of reach. My soul feels like an old one and it’s almost a physical ache with wanting when I see or read about certain places or times. I call it a “knowing”. There are books from the basement to the attic which I call “My Precious” [in the Gollum voice].

This is a personal weblog. The opinions expressed here are our own.

Some of the pictures are from the web, and if you find your own, and would like us to take it down, we will [please don't sue us!]

Our favorite thing about blogging is reading comments, so won’t you please leave one before you go?

Thanks and hope to see you back often!!

Welcome to the Blog-world! Anything on your mind, anytime you’re ready, we’re here to hear it! I know nothing about Paranormals, and you like them. Why? What’s so good about them?

  3. Hello, Ladies. Sorry for the lateness of my reply. I recently discovered your blog (Thanks, Melanie :D) but I’m just now getting around to commenting.

Thank you for your feature about “The Tempest.” I was so happy to learn that you enjoyed it. The Gisbornes seem to be in demand right now, so we’ll be hearing more from them. :)

Love your site. It’s beautiful, and I’ll be visiting often. Have a wonderful day!

    • Is this THE Charlotte Hawkins?! OMG!

I loved your books and I’m looking forward to more from you. I’m so glad you stopped by and thanks for writing Guy as I see him ;)
BTW, we need to book you (if you have the time-name it and we’ll make room)!

      Best,
      Mel

      • Charlotte,

I’m truly humbled and appreciate authors like yourself supporting Bloggers like myself :)
I would be ‘tickled pink’; ‘happy as a clam or pig in shit’ and all around THRILLED if you would stop by and guest blog to your hearts content ANY time you HAVE the time! I have Judith James’ interview coming up this Monday 9/19/2011; Keeping my fingers crossed for Eileen Dreyer for 10/3/2011; Joanna Bourne is scheduled for 10/17/2011 and Ashley March for 10/26/2011 ;)

Week of September 26 is open wide and week of October 10….Let me know what you think and I would love to know your take on self publishing. BTW I just read that quite a few blogs out there don’t review Self-pub authors. Is that true?! I was frankly stunned. I mean, some of the best reads lately that I’ve reviewed were from those authors….you work included:)

        Mel

  4. Hello There!

Forgive me for leaving this in two places, but I wasn’t sure where to post it…

I would love to do an interview. My best days are Tuesdays and Thursdays, so the 27th or 29th of this month will work just fine. Just let me know what I need to do. I’m happy to discuss my work. Hope to hear from you soon.

    Yours,
    Charlotte H.

    • Charlotte,

Thanks for stopping by and you can leave me a msg any time any where and as many times you want ;)

I’ve sent you an email so we can continue this discussion. Hope to hear from you soon, and until then,

      My Best Always,
      Mel

  5. Hi Mel!
I’d love to introduce your site to two authors I don’t see on here … the first is Kaki Warner, whose gorgeous western romance adventure series won her the Rita for Best First Book at the RWA last June. She writes beautifully.

The second is me! My debut novel, “Under the Same Sky” (Berkley/Penguin US) debuts Jan 3 2012 and I’d love for you to take a look – and maybe I could pop by your blog sometime? Please come see my site: http://www.GenevieveGraham.com

    • Hi Ms. Graham!

Thank you so much for stopping by and introducing yourself :) I’m ALWAYS open to new authors, be they Debut or ‘new’ to me.

I have heard of Ms. Warner (last year was her Debut, I believe and she won with that book a Rita?) and I do hope to read that book soon. I do on occasion leave the comfort of Regency World for the Wild West. Currently I’m reading Caroline Fyffe’s WHERE THE WIND BLOWS and I like it a lot. I like Ms. Fyffe’s style of writing.

I went to your website and looked around…I see that one of your fave’s is mine as well. THE OUTLANDER and Ms. Gabaldon’s other books in that series are one of my prize possessions. I have them all and re-read them as soon as I find out she’s coming up with the new one :)

Your books do sound very much what I love to read about. I saw the trailer and liked it a lot as well. The covers of both of them are very good, and I hope you stay with the second one (it looks like it’s only temp?).

I wondered if you’d be interested in sending me it for a review, and I would love to interview you also. I have second week in December free.

Hope to hear from you soon.

      Mel

  6. Hi Mel-

I often visit your blog and would love to send you an ARC of my debut, THE RUNAWAY COUNTESS. It is a Regency ;) and releases March 6, 2012.

    Best-
    Leigh LaValle

We love it that you’ve stopped by and hope to see you here often:D

mel and her awesome team of women that ROCK this blog, Evelyn and Krissie :D

  8. Thank you so much for picking me to get Maureens book. Love that she’s a friend here on FB. My e-mail is TerryParrish 2010 (at) hotmail (dot) (com). Thanks again, everyone!

  9. Hi Melanie and Kristal,

Hello from FOREVER Romance! I started here at Grand Central in September as an assistant to Jessica Bromberg, who oversees publicity for all of FOREVER and FOREVER YOURS titles. We’re working on updating our contact list and would like to make sure we have the correct email addresses for both of you.

We’d love to keep sending you all the books you want to read, so if you don’t mind please send me your contact info at foreverpublicity@hbgusa.com.

Thank you so much, and we can’t wait to continue working together!

    Best,
    Marissa Sangiacomo

  10. Kristal, great, awesome author of paranormal with a Freebie up on Amazon [oops, no longer free, but only .99]. 1st in a series, it’s called, Bound to Night–great VAMP romance. A good friend of mine, too. She has lots of great vampire stories to tell… hey! maybe she is one??? well, who knows…

I was going to tell you it was up for free on Amazon but that must have been a one day thing for the release of her new book, 2nd in the series, Bound to Moonlight, which I’ve read and is just awesome, too.

  11. Hello, I cannot remember how I got into you but I assume that one of the authors I am friends on fb with would have pointed you guys out and since then I am hooked. You sending me daily emails makes it even more interesting. Now I am informed about a lot more books than I would have been through the library and the local bookstores. I used to blog in my lovely cat Fluser’s name but after I had to let him go two weeks ago into the higher hunting grounds I am not sure if I will continue. It is a bit of a hell, but I love it hot.
I love to read and I am a bit of an addict when it comes to books. So bring it on. :-)

  12. Hi, Melanie. Any chance you’d like to see my new Regency, Against the Wind? It just got 5 stars from the Reading Cafe and I’d love to see it on your site. Also, I have an idea for a post on How to Write a Worthy Review. (Authors and their friends often don’t know how to write them…). Let me know. You can email me via my website, http://www.reganwalkerauthor.com.

  13. Hi Melanie,

You had a peek at my Pinterest Board for Illicit Love. Would you like to review it, if so I can let you have an eARC now, it’s launched on May 2nd, but no hurry, you can review it whenever you have time.

Best wishes, and thanks again for the RT.

You might also want to have a glance at my blog, if you haven’t yet, I share loads of true historical stories on there. http://janelark.wordpress.com/

    Jane :)

    • OMG!

      YES!!!
I looked all over the net to pre-order it but Amazon doesn’t have it yet!!! Color me HAPPY!!!
It really sounds intriguing and I would love to read and rev it for you.

I only glanced at your site and noticed so many interesting things on it and I wanted to subscribe, but couldn’t find the button :(

I’ll send you my email and you can send it to me. I’m sure I’ll be able to rev it by the time it comes out…

      Thanks a bunch!
      Hugs from Chicago ;D

      Mel

  14. Thanks Mel, can you either let me know your email address here, or friend me on facebook and message it to me, and then I can let you have a copy :) I’m thrilled you’re so keen to read it, that’s really great feedback, and also thanks for the feedback on the subscribe button on my blog, I’ll make sure it’s on there and shift it to the top :)

  15. Hello Bookwork! Would love to work with you in a possible book review and/or author spotlight for one of our authors. Could you email me your steps for submission? jenny(at)badassmktg(dot)com. Thanks so much!
